Call me a nerd…call me a geek…call me a dork, but I LOVE science! Especially when we see what it does to the human body. I’m not a health nut, though I’d like to be and I’m definitely looking to always take better care of myself. Based on this, I started learning about Ions. The quick explanation is that negative ions are good for the human body, but, if you like to learn like I do, read on…
What is an ION?
By definition, An ION is an atom or molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons.
What is a Positive ION?
A Positive ION is an atom with is positively charged, which means it has less electrons than protons.
What is a Negative ION?
A Negative ION is an atom, or molecule, that has gained one or more extra negatively charged electrons. Negative ions are naturally generated by evaporating water, ocean surf, waterfalls and ionic materials such as Tourmaline.
How do IONS impact the human body?
We’ve all heard of metabolism. It’s the process of acquiring nutrients from the blood and removing waste. It is vital for human cells. The more negatively charged electric ions there are in the blood, the more efficient the cell’s metabolic process is. But more positively charged ions actually slow metabolism. According to Economy Daily News, negative ions are beneficial to the human body in four major ways:
1: Strengthen the functions of autonomic nerves
2: Reinforces collagen
3: Improves the permeability of the cell’s prototype plasma membranes (improves metabolism)
4: Strengthens the body’s immune system.
So, if you want to begin to be a healthier individual, begin your process by instilling more negative ions into your body.
